Frequently asked questions

What is an Air Conditioning system?

In its simplest form, there will be an Indoor Unit (to cool or heat the room) and an Outdoor Unit (where heat will be rejected or picked up dependant on what mode the Indoor Unit is operating in). These two units will be connected by pipes carrying refrigerant and cables carrying power and communications signals/ information. Larger systems can be more complex, but all work on this same basic principle.

Can a new system be installed anywhere?

Within reason, yes. However important items to consider are:

What is the best position within the room to ensure the best circulation of conditioned air?

Is there a suitable position to locate an Outdoor Unit which will be accessible for future servicing?

Is there a suitable route that these pipes & cables can follow between the Indoor and Outdoor units?

Please get in touch to arrange an appointment so we can give you an overview of the possibilities.

Will I need a separate power supply for my new unit?

Potentially, a smaller system could be powered by being plugged into a standard power socket, however it is good practice for each system to be powered via a dedicated supply from an MCB in the electrical distribution board. Any new circuit needs to be tested and certificated. If required, we can provide a quote to include for this.

Why should I have my Airconditioning unit serviced?

To ensure that it works efficiently and effectively. Regular maintenance reduces the risk of the system suffering from a breakdown. Please see the Maintenance Section of this website for full details.
