Domestic Installations

Unless a concealed ducted system is installed with sleek minimalist air grilles, Air Conditioning can at times be unsightly. Unfortunately, these ducted systems are the most expensive to install. Often however, the most effective means of heating or cooling a room is a wall mounted unit, additionally, these units are generally the most competitively priced option. While at times they are not the most attractive of units, there are a growing number of options which provide a sleeker more modern appearance. We would be be happy to discuss your requirements and provide a quotation to best suit your needs and budget.

Generally, the type of units which are designed for residential applications have special filters which reduce allergens and pollen within a room. These units offer the additional benefit of improving the air quality of the rooms they serve as well as providing excellent temperature control – most units can also provide heating in an energy efficient manner, see Heating Too below for full details.

Heating Too

For many, the main reason to consider installing a comfort cooling system will be for just that – cooling, however, the fact is that these systems also have the ability provide heat (very efficiently). In our opinion, there is a case to be made for installing a system primarily for the provision of heating – with the added benefit of cooling in the summer.

Often the climate in this country can be very changeable. Particularly during the Spring and Autumn months, there can be days where the ambient temperature means that our homes are just slightly cooler than we would like them to be. Often in these circumstances, the heating gets turned on and unless we take the time to turn radiators off, we end up paying to heat the whole house un-necessarily when all that was really required was to heat the one or two rooms which are actually being occupied. Installing a Heat Pump system means that warm air can be delivered to a room almost instantly, and this is energy efficient heat too.

If an electric heater (ie; convector, fan heater or oil filled radiator) is used, for every unit of electricity that is used, one unit of heat is produced. However, with a heat pump system, up to 6 units of heat are produced per unit of electricity – the term for this relationship is the Co-efficient of Performance (COP).

The actual figure varies dependant on outdoor and room temperatures – the average figure is generally around 4.5, however the lower the outdoor temperature, the lower the COP, hence the benefits in Spring and Autumn when the outdoor temperature is generally higher than in Winter.
